With the inspiration and blessings of H.H. Shri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj, International President of Divine Life Society Rishikesh and Guru-Bhai of Rev.Dr.Shivananda Adhvaryuji (Rev.Bapuji) a first De-Addiction Camp was organised on 22-11-87, with thee keen efforts of Late Sri Chandubhai Tejura, Jilla Niyojak (District Organiser), De-Addiction Centre. Thereafter 6 more such camps were organised at Morbi, Jamnagar, Babra and Tankara. Due to successful De-addiction Camps and growing demand for such a community centre on permanent basis, Dr. Adhvaryu started a De-Addiction Wing in S. C. Hospital Virnagar on 1st April 1989 with the co-operation of Gujarat Nashabandhi Mandal, under the able guidance of Smt.Jayaben Shah, President and Shri Chandubhai Tejura, District Organiser.

Attracted by dedicated and selfless services as well as the pleasing atmosphere in the Hospital Complex many addicts from all over Gujarat and even from neighbouring State such as Maharashtra and M.P. took advantage of Virnagar De-addiction Centre.

The present De-Addiction Centre was shifted in newly constructed 7 Room building over 'B'-ward with the generous donation of family and heirs of Late Shri Babubhai Jagjivandas Goradia of Mumbai. This newly constructed centre has 7 wards with total 16 beds, separate office, Recreation Room containing Library and Audio/Visual equipments.

The patients in this De-addiction Centre are given treatment ranging from one to three weeks. In addition, services of Psychiatric from Rajkot is also made available in deserving cases. The patients are provided free meals and stay, as also specially designed uniforms.

The entire management of De-Addiction Centre at VIRNAGAR is under Shivananda Mission Trust.

So far, following categories of addicts have been successfully given treatment at this centre till march 2011.

With a view to help follow-up survey of patients already treated at this centre and to extend the facilities of treatment to remote areas, regular De-Addicts Camps and exhibitions are also organized through Field Officer of the Centre which also receive overwhelming response in Rural areas.
